Mission
- To assist each individual to enjoy
using their voice and body for theatrical and everyday communication; and to
further the understanding and appreciation of different aspects of theatre
and film.
Competitive Advantage
- The business offers students lessons
focussed on their individual needs;
- There are no set texts or lessons
plans, so students may use any material that they use at school or use their
favourite texts etc.;
- I also have a extensive range of
texts for students so that monetary outlay for parents can be kept to a
minimum;
- Students have the opportunity to
take part in lessons dedicated to group-work and advanced theatrical
techniques which are usually only taught at certain Universities;
- Students have the opportunity to
participate in the Australian Music Examinations Board examinations which
are recognised nationally, and to compete in Eisteddfods which further their
experience;
- Parents are encouraged to be
involved in their child’s progress by meeting informally with me;
- My specialist knowledge of the
impact of music in film and theatre is valuable to any educational
institution that teaches these disciplines.
Slogan
"Confidence, Clarity, Conviction".
Product/Service Description
- I offer students, aged five years
and over, lessons that are focussed on their individual needs. These include
issues regarding speech (such as confidence in public speaking, clarity of
speech, accents, minor speech impediments) and drama (such as
characterisation, mime, improvisation, reading and recitation of prose and
poetry). These lessons occur weekly during the school term with the option
of lessons during the school holiday.
- The students have the opportunity to
participate in Australian Music Examinations Board written and practical
examinations that are recognised nationally and involve different areas of
both speech and drama. The students also have the opportunity to compete in
local Eisteddfods which further their experience and include the idea of
competition while performing.
- Day lessons are offered that provide
the students with the experience of working in a group and performing in
front of an audience. This also provides the opportunity for the students to
assist and mentor each other.
- Day lessons are offered for mature
students regarding advanced theatrical techniques which include breathing
techniques, costume appreciation, safe fighting and falling, correct usage
of swords and guns etc.
- There are complimentary meetings or
phone conversations with the parents so that they are aware of their child’s
progress and may discuss any issues that are of concern.
- I also offer specialist knowledge
regarding the use of music in film and theatre and the impact this has upon
an audience’s understanding of the action. This is relevant to educational
institutions that teach these disciplines and is also of interest to
theatrical companies who wish to incorporate music into their production.
The consultancy is therefore offered to these theatre companies.
- Finally, articles are given to
theatre and film journals with the possibility of publication so that the
ideas of music in film and theatre can be shared with a readership that
would not have the opportunity for a lecture/presentation in person.
